Six Rhino Poachers Arrested Over the Weekend in Assam

Authorities have arrested six rhino poachers near Assam’s Orang National Park.

Four rhino poachers were arrested Saturday as they were plotting to kill rhinos in Assam’s Orang National Park. Thanks to a tip, authorities raided a house in Bihudia village, which is located near the edge of the park.

Rhino Horn and Bear Gall Bladder Smugglers Busted in Nepal

Two rhino horn and bear gall bladder smugglers have been arrested just outside Nepal’s capital.

Undercover police have arrested two members of a wildlife smuggling operation near Kathmandu. The officers posed as buyers and confiscated one rhino horn and two bear gall bladders.
Both rhino horn and bear bile are prized ingredients in traditional Chinese medicine.

Nepal Youth Organization Calls for Lifetime Jail Sentences for Rhino Poachers

University students in Nepal are urging the government to award life sentences to rhino poachers.

Students from several universities in Nepal gathered last week to demand that the government amend the National Park and Wildlife Conservation Act of 1973 in order to impose life sentences for the crime of rhino poaching.

Lost Baby Rhino Reunited with Mother in Haldibari Reserve Forest, Assam

The Assam Forest Department returned a baby rhino to her mother after the two became separated.

Assam forest officials and a team from the Center for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation (CWRC) rescued a 45-day-old rhino calf from a trench and reunited her with her mother in Haldibari Reserve Forest .

Three Arrested in Nepal for Smuggling Rhino Horn

Kathmandu police have made three arrests and confiscated a rhino horn.

Police officers deployed by the Metropolitan Police Crime Division in Kathmandu have arrested three people involved in a rhino horn smuggling operation, and confiscated a rhino horn. The trio had attempted to sell the horn for Rs. 1.8 million (USD $38,553).
