Now that 10 of 200 White Rhinos sold at auction last week by Kruger National Park are already dead, Animal Rights Africa is calling for prospective tourists coming to visit the country for the 2010 FIFA World Cup to boycott the Kruger National Park.
Animal rights organizations, such as Animal Rights Africa, have declared the following:
The Kruger National Park has developed into a kind of supermarket trading in animals to make even more money.
If this is any indication of how natural resources are being managed at Kruger National Park, then clearly Sanparks board has failed miserably in their task to “properly protect and conserve the country’s wild animals, and specifically, white rhinoceros.”
The following is from News24.com’s article “Kruger an animal supermarket‘:
Sanparks didn’t want to answer questions on Monday and said an urgent press conference would be held at headquarters in Pretoria on Tuesday.
Steve Smith of Animal Rights Africa (ARA) over the weekend called on the Department of Water and Environmental Affairs to put a moratorium on the sale of white rhino.
Kruger National Park auction of White Rhinos an “environmental crime”
Environmental crimes, such as the auction of these rhinos, are thriving in secrecy – behind the closed doors of corrupt authorities. As conservationists, we are responsible for doing what we can to bring these criminal acts into the limelight, where they cannot survive the scrutiny of responsible environmental stewards.
Shame on you, Kruger National Park.
